Hopefully Davis’ injury isn’t as serious as it looks.
Anthony Davis left Friday’s game with a groin injury to his left leg and is not expected to return, the New Orleans Pelicans announced. He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the Pelicans’ game against the Utah Jazz.
It’s concerning that Davis couldn’t put weight on the leg and collapsed without contact on an otherwise innocuous play under the basket.
Davis has a long history of injuries, but he played 75 games last season while staying relatively healthy. If he misses any significant amount of time, it would be an awful blow for a New Orleans Pelicans team that is currently the seventh seed in the Western Conference. The Pelicans have dealt with relentless injuries over the past few seasons, but were finally off to a relatively clean start to the season.
Hopefully Anthony’s injury is less serious than it seemed.
